It has 100% Ceramic plates. This means that heat is distributed evenly, without hot spots that scorch your hair. Very few flat irons can say that and the ones that can cost way more than the Hana Professional.
The plates also contain Tourmaline, which produces ions that actually make your hair smoother and silkier than a flat iron without Tourmaline.
You can style damp or dry hair. The plates are floating, which means it can style any texture of hair.
It also has controllable temperature that ranges from 140-450 degrees.
So with all of these great things, can a more expensive flat iron really make a difference? I turned to one of my friends who uses a flat iron daily to take it for a test drive. Erin has long, brown wavy hair that she flat irons daily. What did she think? "I was surprised it did such a better job than the flat iron I have been using. It made my hair straighter than my usual iron does and my hair feels incredible. It's silky and smooth today. Normally, it feels more coarse and dry - like it's straight, but damaged. I am really impressed. I didn't expect a more expensive flat iron to make that much of a difference, but it definitely did."
Now if only Erin can give me some ideas on how to style my hair while it grows, I will be a happier girl. It turns out having really short hair for my entire adult life has left me with the hairstyling skills of a 5th grader. It's seriously a problem and I need ideas! (I'll be sure to update you if Erin actually gives me any ideas.)

Oh! I totally need a good flat iron-- since letting my hair get long again, I've discovered that is has become more curly as I got older--where were these natural waves when I was curling it through high school?! Great on wash and go days, but ridiculously hard to get smooth with a brush and dryer...
ReplyDeleteOh, and barrettes, barrettes, barrettes were my best friend when I grew out my short Gwenyth-in-Sliding-Doors 'do several years ago. Cute bobby pins for side swept bangs. Oh, and cute hats are really in these days for when you just can't handle it. :)
Having a really good flat iron is necessary when you're trying to let your hair grow long, since it let you realize how long your hair truly is specially when you have a bit curvy wild hair like mine!
ReplyDeleteI've had short hair all my life and now I'm struggling to keep it long but every week I want to go and get it short again but when I make it straight I fell in love with it again and say I can resist a couple more months.
I desperately need a good flat iron... or even a mediocre one. :-) My entire hair styling arsenal consists of a brush and a comb. I don’t even have a hair dryer! But the wash-and-go look is getting a bit old and I definitely need a change.
ReplyDeleteI need a new flat iron too. My hair is so thick and wavy that I've had to replace two cheap flat irons in the last 6 years. I broke them. :( No more cheap-o irons for me! I just have to find one that's worth it. :)

I am in need of a great flat iron. My hair has funky waves in it and I have it cut into a shoulder lenghth style which I can't seem to style properly with the flat iron I have:(
ReplyDeleteFor growing out your hair I would suggest embelished pins for a great side bang or a headband. They make such a great varity now.
Thanks

My flat iron is my addiction! I could use a new one!
ReplyDeleteOh how I would LOVE a good iron! I have been addicted to ironing ever since I've started using one about 5 or 6 years ago. It has saved me TONS of time in the morning. I don't know what I did before my iron. I even got my cousin to try it and she's addicted also.
ReplyDeleteI do try and take care of my hair and if using a better one is actually better for my hair then it's totally worth it! Thank you for letting me know about this one, it's on my want list now.
Growing out your hair...I'm growing my hair long for the first time ever! I have tried many times before but got bored and gave up and chopped it off. However, I have never had very short hair, so I'm probably not going to be much help. The only thing I can think of is some bobby pins. Can you get it in a pony tail? even a small one? If you can why not get a few "fake" ponies. That could add some fun until your hair is truly ready to be in a pony. Just a thought.
Thanks
Tammy

For you, I would suggest using the flatiron to give shiny waves! Yes, a flatiron can create waves... just flick the iron around to "curl" the bottoms of your hair (very quickly, especially at a high heat!); you'll end up with shiny, mostly straight hair with some rumpled waves near the bottom. It looks good on short AND long hair.
ReplyDeleteI need a new straightening iron like crazy... hope my tip helps you out, and hope I win this one! ;)
(Just n case, find me at lindsaymasten@gmail.com)
I DESPERATELY need a new flat iron. My hair is thick and frizzy and wavy... not pretty!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI think the way you did your hair by Lindsay's suggestion is really cute!
I am a subscriber to your email too :)
ReplyDeleteI love those expensive flat irons. I should probably make an investment in one soon!
ReplyDeleteMy hairdresser is convinced that the reason my hair grows so fast is because I leave it wrapped loosely in a towel after washing for extra long. I'd say give it a try...
ReplyDeleteAlso, when I'm in the in between times of a grow-out, I live in either bobby pins or goody headbands (the ones that are elastic and have a no-slip grip on the underside.
Good luck!
I'm a graduate student and I am getting married in 4 months in a small destination wedding. We don't have enough in the budget to have someone do my hair, but I would love a great flat iron so my hair doesn't look frizzy from the heat!

I have a flat iron but it is of poor quality and takes a long time to straighten my hair. I would love this good quality flat iron to straighten, smooth and calm my hair frizziness in less time.
ReplyDeleteThis would help tame my thick, wavy hair!

I'm in dire need of a flat iron! Being a dancer my hair always has to be up and twisted around, making it feel damaged and sad. With an iron I might have the courage to wear it down during the day.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has been extolling the virtues of bobby pins, and I completely agree, but try some fun ways to pull them back. Part it on the side and gently twist your hair and grab more hair as you go. Make sure it's not too tight so you have some height in the front, pin the twist and give it a little hairspray, and you have a '40s inspired look!
Well my daughter and I both are desperate for a decent flat iron. The one we shared took a major dump about 2 months ago. I have thick semi course hair, which my daughter does not BUT... PROM is in 4 weeks. PROM and we have a cheap Wal-Mart flat iron that does more damage then good. I actually cut a few inches off my hair because the low quality flat irons DO make your kind straight but look super dry and puffy.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, as growing out hair goes, I am a true expert... Right now I have hair that almost touches my elbows, no wait I cut it a few days ago... it's below my bra strap and I have been posting on FB how I want to cut it all off and bleach it. I do this every 3 years or so. I just go off the deep end. Then I have to grow it all back. Key to fast growth... only wash every 3 days or so, never blow dry if possible, use as little product as possible. Use a decent shampoo and conditioner.
To style, I love those mini jaw clips. I was a punk in the 80's so I had to find decent ways to make a mohawk look presentable. If I had these mini jaw clips I would have had a field day.
Think Rock-a-billy, punk but with a soft side. Your bangs a longish so you can blow dry forward and then brush back into a pomp or as I like to do is find my best parts and twist chunks of hair back. OK this is way long so I am off to cross all my body parts!!
My hairdresser was a huge help when I was growing my hair from super super short to a shoulder length bob. Regular trims meant that I never had that awkward "I'm trying to grow it out" look, and I swear it grew faster than my previous attempts. A flat iron helped too, especially as I get frizzy at even the thought of dampness. I would love to have a new one, and I have just subscribed!

I would love a good quality flat iron. My present flat iron is of poor quality and takes a long time to straighten my hair. This Misikko iron sounds great!
ReplyDeleteWould love the Hana flat iron, mine takes forever to halfway do my hair, so anything to help get it done faster without catching on fire would be appreciated. :) I use embellished bobby pins, generally 2 to 3 at a time to help my growing bangs from being all in my face.
ReplyDeleteI need a flat iron to help me fight off the intensely humid Atlanta summers!
ReplyDeleteMy seventeen year old daughter' flat iron that we got form a mall kiosk went Kaput! do we are sharing one flatiron. It's never where its's supposed to be for either of us. We each need one of our own and would love to be entered in your drawing.
ReplyDeleteI need a good quality flat iron as my current flat iron is very time-consuming to use. This Misikko flat iron looks like it would do a great job of straightening and smoothing my hair in record time.
ReplyDelete(I don't know what happened to my comments from April 24 & 25-it said they would be posted after approval but they are not showing up)
I have spent the last two years growing my hair out from short and spiky to past my shoulders. I won't lie -- the in-between stage was definitely painful! Until now, I had short hair for the past 15+ years. It's very strange that my hair is now wavy and gets pretty frizzy. When it was short -- and way back when it was long -- my hair was always poker straight. Therefore, I have never owned a flat iron. With my current frizzies, however, I desperately NEED a flat iron now!
