This look is dependent on having the right brush, a cream shadow and lots of mascara. I'll tell you exactly what I used, but to pull this off easily the type of brush and a cream shadow are non-negotiable.
Here is what I did to get this look.
I started by filling in my brows, using Anastasia's Strawburn brow powder.
I used Too Faced's Shadow Insurance all over my lids.
I applied Bobbi Brown's Sparkle shadow in Mica over my lid, extending slightly past the crease of my eye.
I curled and primed my lashes, using Urban Decay's Lash Primer.
I then took my Buxom Smoky Eye Brush (though any slightly stiff, rounded brush with a pointed tip will work) and applied Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre in Mirifique over my lid, but any black or dark cream shadow will work. I applied it in a slight sideways triangle (people who are good at math would call it an isosceles triangle, but that isn't me) that extends from my inner corner to my outer corner. Before the darker shadow had the chance to dry down, flick the outer corner up and out with the brush.
I then traced over the area closest to my lashes to make it even darker.
I added a bit more of the Bobbi Brown shadow to blend the two edges slightly.
I finished with quite a bit of Mally Volumizing Mascara on my top lashes and used that genius Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara on the lower lashes.
It took less than five minutes and isn't something you see everyday in the office. Move out of your comfort zone and try something new! Feather out the edges really dramatically, line the inner rim and sweep the dark shadow under the outer corner of the lower lash line and you've got the Katy Perry look from Interview Magazine.
I purchased everything I used.

I really love this look! Never really tried a cream shadow since they always slide off, but I guess maybe I should give it a go, considering Too Faced primer is pretty amazing.
