True Blood's Kristin Bauer has recently joined Lush and Tails for Whales to educate the public on whaling and why it needs to be stopped. Whales and their habitats face many threats including commercial whaling, ship strikes, entanglement in fishing gear, ocean noise and climate change. In order to protect whales, IFAW has launched Tails for Whales, a grassroots initiative calling for stronger whale protection and is asking the public to contribute photos to illustrate support for whales. The collection of photographs includes celebrities, public figures and everyday individuals making whale tails with their hands. Kristin Bauer, Goran Visnjic, Amber Valletta, Joely Fisher, Cullen Jones, Ben Stein and Dylan Walsh are among the familiar faces who have already struck a pose for the campaign. Photos can be viewed or uploaded at www.ifaw.org/tailsforwhales.
This Saturday, November 7th, from 1-3pm, stop by the Lush located at 1404 Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, CA to meet Kristin and have your picture taken making a whale tail to show your support for this worthy cause. There will also be goodies for people who take photos for the cause and Lush boutiques are always filled with delicious products that are good for you and the environment. Can't make it to Santa Monica? (me either!) Upload your own photo and show your support. Check out mine! Leave me a link to yours in the comments!

My Newest Muse - Illamasqua Lip Gloss
I love lip gloss. All kinds of glorious, shiny, sexy lip gloss. Nothing perks up the face faster than a good lip gloss (good eyebrows are a close second). Colorful or nude, sticky or sweet, there is no reason to ever be without a good lip gloss. I literally have over 30 of them in my purse right now. Of course, I realize that is a tad bit obsessive, but I still believe the right lip gloss can change your day.
My favorite color right now is a beautiful sheer grape, Tantrum, by a company called Illamasqua. Unless you live nearby one of the select Sephoras that carry this line and specifically this gloss, you will have to trust me. This color is gorgeous and I love the feel of the gloss. It's not sticky or too thick. It wears really well and hugs your lips. It also feels moisturizing and the color stays true. I like this gloss so much, I picked up three different colors (including Tantrum) on a recent jaunt to Sephora.
I recently gave this reader a makeover based on this gorgeous grape shade (it looked so great on her!). This shade is especially striking on those at either end of the spectrum- those who are really pale or really dark. Despite the fact you may not be able to easily check this out in person, trust me. It's a great answer for those nervous to embrace the really dark lip trends every where right now.
You need to check this out. I love it!

Do You Q? You Aren't Going To Want To Miss BE This Saturday!
This Saturday, November 7th, Leslie Blodgett will be auctioning the clothes off her back on QVC in order to raise money for Cancer and Careers. Okay, specifically the gown off her back. 100% of the donated amount will go towards helping working women balance surviving cancer with maintaining their jobs. I haven't seen a sneak of what this gown looks like, but I am sure it is gorgeous! Even if you don't plan to wear it yourself, it's a great chance to do some good for your fellow women. And the lucky winner will also win a one-of-a-kind eye color, hand-mixed for you by Leslie herself.
But that's not all. Bare Escentuals has partnered with Honora Pearls to create a very special 10-piece limited edition collection. Each color is infused with Honora Pearl, which leaves a unique and beautiful pearlescent radiance on the face. Be sure to catch this collection and all kinds of Bare Escentuals treats throughout Saturday and tune in on Saturday night from 10pm to midnight EST for a BE presentation unlike any other! I am especially excited to see the new Brightening Pearl Mineral Veil and new bareMinerals Big & Bright Eyeliner pencils that won't be seen again until April, 2010!
To celebrate this beautiful new relationship, Bare Escentuals will be giving away a grand prize that includes a year supply of bareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation coupled with Honora’s limited-edition Barely Blush collection. The grand prize winner will be announced during the show between 10pm and midnight EST on Saturday, November 7th. There will also be four runner-up prizes announced later via email. You can enter to win by visiting here. Good luck!
UPDATE:
The BE contest is back up! Be sure to enter to win!
Honora is also running their own contest!
From their blog:
"This is a big occasion for us, so it seems fitting to give these products away to not only one, but three lucky winners! In addition to the Today’s Special Value, a Bare Escentuals “Beautiful in Pearls” makeup kit, winners will also receive Honora’s Barely Blush necklace and bracelets that will be featured this weekend.
